Past the Bots is a tool for analyzing résumés against applicant tracking systems. This page describes exactly what happens to the data you submit. In plain terms: if you're not signed in, we process your résumé to produce the analysis and don't store it. If you are signed in, we save your scan results to your account so you can revisit them — and you can delete them anytime.

What you submit

  • A résumé file (PDF, DOCX, or TXT) that you upload.
  • Optionally, a job description you paste in.

How it's processed

  • Your file is parsed in memory on the server to run the analysis (parse-health, structure extraction, job-match, ATS-safe rebuild). It is not written to a database or persistent storage and is discarded when the request finishes.
  • We use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights for aggregate, cookielesstraffic and performance stats. These don't use tracking cookies, collect personal data, or follow you across sites — and they never see your résumé. Signing in sets a session cookie for login only.

Saved scans (only when signed in)

  • If you have an account and are signed in, the results of each résumé check (scores, detected fields, issues, the ATS-safe rebuild, plus any status and notes you add) are saved to your account so you can revisit them under My scans. We don't keep the original uploaded file.
  • You can delete any individual scan or clear your entire history at any time from that page. Deleted scans are removed from our store.
  • If you're not signed in, nothing is saved — the analysis is processed in memory and discarded.

Optional AI tailoring (third party)

If you use the “Tailor with AI” feature, the text of your résumé and the job description are sent to Anthropic to generate the suggestions, and are subject to Anthropic's privacy and data-handling terms. We don't store the request or the result. If you don't use this feature, no résumé data leaves our processing for any third party.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell or share your résumé with employers, recruiters, or advertisers.
  • We don't build a profile of you for advertising, and we never keep your original uploaded file.
  • We don't require an account to use the analysis — saved history is an opt-in benefit of signing in.

Your choices

Don't upload information you wouldn't want processed as described above. If you stay signed out, nothing is retained after the request finishes. If you're signed in and want your saved results removed, delete them from My scans (individually or all at once).
