Creative section headings
An executive résumé in our test set used "Who I Am," "Where I've Worked," and "What I Bring." None map to a standard field, so the entire experience section was missed. Our own parser still can't map headings like these. Use Experience, Summary, and Core Competencies.
Certifications as acronyms only
Our parser counts PMP as Project Management, and Six Sigma and Lean as Process Improvement. Name both the certification and the skill so either wording matches.
Two decades on four pages
Our check flags résumés over two pages. Summarize early roles in a line each.
Titles and suffixes around your name
"Dr. Jonathan R. Whitfield III, MBA" from our test set needed special handling to parse the name correctly. Keep the name line to your name, and list degrees under Education.
Keywords our parser recognizes for this field
Only list what you genuinely have, and use the wording of the posting you're applying to. A free check shows which of the posting's terms your résumé is missing.
